Nelson Methyl Ethyl Ketone is primarily used as a solvent. It can be used as a solvent in the processes involving gums, resins, cellulose acetate and nitrocellulose coatings and vinyl films.

Methyl Ethyl Ketone is also used in the manufacturing process of plastics and textiles, in the production process of paraffin wax and may be included in household products such as lacquer, varnishes, and paint removers. May also be used as a cleaning agent.
