Sault Ste. Marie, ON – February 24, 2025– The Nelson Paint Company is pleased to announce the promotion of Sara-Jayne Mountford to Assistant Plant Manager at our Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario location.
Sara-Jayne began her journey with Nelson Paint in April 2021 as a production worker and quickly transitioned into an office role, demonstrating strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. Most recently serving as Administrative Coordinator, she has played a vital role in office administration, coordinating building and equipment maintenance, managing Canadian sales, overseeing shipments, and contributing to health and safety initiatives.
In her new role as Assistant Plant Manager, Sara-Jayne will expand her responsibilities to include procurement and inventory of raw materials, quality control and assurance, international shipping and orders, HR operations such as staff training and hiring, and team leadership duties—all while continuing her administrative and sales functions.
“Sara-Jayne has proven to be an invaluable part of our team, consistently stepping up to new challenges and responsibilities,” said Andrew Rudy “Her work ethic and dedication to Nelson Paint’s mission make her the perfect fit for this role.”
Originally from Southern British Columbia, Sara-Jayne now resides just outside of Sault Ste. Marie. A hands-on learner, she thrives in on-the-job training environments. Outside of work, she enjoys crafting, woodworking, and competitive target shooting with a traditional recurve bow, even winning two gold medals in local tournaments.
When asked about her favorite part of working at Nelson Paint, she shared: “Even though the company has grown to multiple locations, Nelson Paint has not lost the family values that are normally only seen in small businesses. And it’s pretty cool that we invented the paintball!”
